Education should be Free

Today, MSNBC interviewed a few college students from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. One of the students said that college should not be free because it somehow diminishes the value of having a Bachelor’s Degree (paraphrased).

In other words, she just said that if everyone had an equal opportunity to achieve a college education, then she might have to work a little harder (or maybe a lot harder) to achieve a higher GPA, a higher ranking in her graduating class, and might have to do more than attend college / university to increase her portfolio value when it comes to furthering her career.

This would be a good thing.

We need more young people involved in charitable work, which is one of those resume items that proves you are a well rounded person actively working to improve the community, the state, and the nation. While I am in no way insinuating that the young person who made the statement mentioned above is partying lively during her free time, I am suggesting that many students from homes with a hefty income, are doing just that.

Having to compete with more students would help keep the serious students busy preparing for their future in a myriad of ways that do not include the traditional college party scene.

You may disagree with my opinion at first glance, but once you mull it over, I am pretty sure you will see that the elitists in this country want to keep poor people out of education. An educated voter is a dangerous threat to the status quo.

If we look further into the future of these elitists, we will also see how easily they sway those with less education to see the world of politics their way, which is usually harmful or at least of no use to those who are making less money and are less educated, regardless of race.

It’s time to think about these issues seriously. We cannot allow ourselves to be swept back in time. We need to move forward by living the best life we can in each moment, which includes keeping up with what is going on in the world of politics because it affects every single person in the US.

We cannot afford to have our country run by elitists who seek to keep poor people at the bottom few rungs of the ladder as it applies to income, social status, political power, and the old American Dream. Currently, that American dream that so many people remember fondly, is only for those who can afford an education at a college or university.

Education should be free, just as health care should be free.

We need to catch up with the other major countries on both of these issues.

Making an antibacterial room spray

This is an excellent recipe as it is, but it will also be useful as a guideline for preparing your own essential oil recipes for a variety of uses. #lifelessons

Living Scents

diy antibacterial room sprayOne of the easiest ways to bring the scents of essential oils into your home without spending a bundle is to make your own room spray.  Why spray extra chemicals into your home with commercial air fresheners when a few simple ingredients is all you need?  This recipe is for an antibacterial room spray that will help to purify the air of germs and make your room smell fresh.

What you will need:

  • A dark glass bottle with a fine mist sprayer
  • 1 tsp of plain vodka (high proof) or neutral grain spirit
  • 1 oz. distilled water
  • 3 drops lemon essential oil
  • 2 drops ravensara essential oil
  • 2 drops wild oregano essential oil
  • 2 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • Funnel (optional for pouring vodka and water into the glass bottle)
  • Droppers (if your essential oil bottles don’t have them built in)

To make the spray, place the vodka into the glass bottle…

Voter Suppression in South Carolina

Voter suppression in South Carolina is real. I know from personal experience.

When you vote in South Carolina, you are required to have South Carolina photo identification that is current.

Let me explain what is happening here in S.C., where I have lived all but 5 years of my life.

When I returned to SC, the DMV informed me that they need a copy of each marriage license for every name change (I was married twice). The vital records department charges $12 per license if handled by mail, much more if handled online, or less if you travel to Columbia.

Without my SC Driver’s License or SC ID (same rules apply), I cannot vote. Well, if had a passport I could, but I don’t.

Now tell me why, logically speaking, when my name has not changed in 25 years, when my first husband is deceased, and being that I was divorced before I left SC, WHY should I have to pay the state for documents I shall never need again?

I can think of only one reason: Voter Suppression. Two of the ugliest words an American citizen ever has to utter.

“They” are hoping to make it so time consuming that you will give up  instead of proceeding to get your “right to vote,” while they place obstacles in your way and interfere with your rights, over ridiculous rules that even the FBI and Law Enforcement do not require.

I would like to see them go to such lengths before they are allowed to arrest someone. You know, just to make sure they are locking up the right person. Oh but they don’t care about that, they just care about keeping Democrats from voting.

That’s my accusation and I’m sticking to it.

How do they expect people in poverty without a car who can barely keep food on the table, to retrieve their marriage licenses? Who keeps a marriage license after a divorce? Word to the wise – start keeping them. You never know when you will need it. Of course, you’ll need them in duplicate so both spouses have one, which, again, will cost you money.

I have my birth certificate, and my Social Security card with my correct name and correct address. I have my expired SCDL and my active AZDL. I also have a student ID, but it’s from AZ, and apparently SC doesn’t trust me or AZ, or even their past DLs issued.

South Carolina, You’ve gone too far.

  • There are more UFO sightings than suspected voter fraud cases source
  • Analysis of 2,068 reported fraud cases found 10 cases of alleged in-person voter impersonation since 2000

Voter Suppression

More Effective Than You Think

Given that minorities tend to vote overwhelmingly Democratic, researchers were left with little doubt that strict voter ID laws were hurting Democratic candidates.
